my personal 9/11

im calling miami grill closing earlier my personal 9/11 but its only a slight exaggeration…

miami grill for those who arent aware is a quick service joint with multiple locations around florida that sell various grill menu items. so that could be burgers, gyros, chicken, or the best fucking philly cheese steak you’ve ever had in your life.

i started eating miami grill not too long ago when my girlfriend broke up with me and my friend john picked me up late at night id say around 12-1 to get subs there to cheer me up since i had been in my room all day and wasnt doing so hot. dont think of this place as fast food dude, because its not very fast… IN A GOOD WAY THOUGH!

so our car pulls up to the menu board and everything has this very retro charm to it. we browse the menu briefly because john had high claims of this philly cheesesteak. i expected to be waiting for a couple minutes and be out of there but no see everything at miami grill is made fresh and to order meaning your food gets to you within minutes of it being taken out which i like a lot it and it certainly taste that way

anyway i began to appreciate the wait time because it allowed me and john to talk and talk and talk and it was very productive to me to be able to gush out my feelings while waiting for this sub

we get the food and then go back to my place to watch something and eat it and now heres where im going to tell you about the taste… its a 10/10 literally dude everything down to the way the fresh cheesesteak is cooked to the seasoning on the fries. even the coke taste better maybe im just huffing miami fumes but i swear they put more syrup in it.

I think something about that miami grill sub late at night, reflecting while we waited, and finally eating it healed something inside of me. Now THAT is no exaggeration. ever since then from the hours of 1-3 (they close at 3:30) i would get my cravings and drive there a few times a week every week to chow down on a fresh philly cheese. maybe im just trauma bonded to miami grill but seriously man that was my medicine and it made me feel so much better about life in general, it's no joke the workers even recognized my car and knew what i wanted at the window.

okay okay then why knumskull why do you bring this up now? well miami grill on northlake now closes at ELEVEN FUCKIGN THIRTY. E-L-E-V-E-N…..T-H-I-R-T-Y… “but knumskull you can still eat it before then” ITS NOT THE SAME. IT ISNT. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE EATING MIAMI GRILL LATE AT NIGHT AND LISTENING TO MUSIC WHILE THEY CHOP UP YOUR FRESH PHILLY CHEESE STEAK NO ONIONS EXTRA CHEESE.
